I Want To Become A Web Designer. What Qualifications Do I Need??
To become a web designer there are no specific “qualifications” required. Based on personal experience, perform a Yahoo search on “basic HTML tutorial” & begin studying one hour per day. In 30 days, or less, you will master HTML as it is really quite simple.
Additionally, become familiar with an image program; something free or very inexpensive like Uleads Photo Impact.
Next, do some sites for free! Church, school, hobby, small biz… just do some. View the source code of sites you find appealing: in IE at the very top of your Browser window click on “View”, then “Page Source”. As HTML becomes more familiar to you this page source will begin to make sense.
Eventually, sign-up for several free search engine optimization & search engine marketing newsletters so you begin to drive traffic to your web sites & make $$ for you or your client.
There is a huge demand for competent web designers who are capable of not only designing credible web sites but monetizing the sites as well. You can make A LOT OF MONEY designing sites for yourself as well as others.
It is a GREAT LIFE! Some hard work & perseverance will allow you to work in your home, in your shorts, on a lake…like I do

I know there are certificate programs out there that take a few weeks, but because of the software, they are not cheap.

Just go online check which schools offer web design degrees because companies rather hire people with a degree not home taught.
