Actually, you CAN do it for free, two great sites to do this with are
Weebly.com
110Mb.com
If you want to buy a domain, Then you will probably have to learn html or have someone make it for you.

hi to start a website is you need to have a domain & web hosting service. Depends on quality & quantity, Cost for web hosting is about $3++ per month onwards.
1GB to 2GB webspace from webhosting company is more than enough for a start. But recommended larger webspace if your website includes lots of videos or mp3.
And look for greater deals on bandwith allocated per month as your site demand for visitor might be high.
MOST of ALL – webhosting Must BE 99.9% uptime serviceable.. with no downtime problems or server error.
domain registration is about $8-$12 per year .
visit http://www.sgbytehost.com for some links of web hosting company.
Since you are DIY your own website, all web hosting company comes with a control panel with Fantastico pre-installed. Fantastico comes with lots of website program , with free web design template, portal script, blog script, contact us script… Make use of them.
As for your website design, My recommendation to you as a start is to use wordpress (blog), pre installed within the web hosting control panel.
Its a one click installation. Setup within 3mins…
Wordpress is easy to use.. i promise…
+ photos, videos , comments… perfect for your fan site
The design for the wordpress is customisable & there are lots of design available online to download at no cost. Not to forget wordpress comes with lots of functional plugins that are available for download.
You could also look for premium wordpress templates starting from $20 bucks onwards.Or look for web designers .
Anyway if you need help you ask me too..

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website. To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space & enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain & hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you & fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, & have never had a single problem with them.
They are a Multi-awarded Web Hosting which offer a Full-featured service only $6.95. You can see their Plan Details accompanied with reliable reviews regarding their service at:http://www.threehosts.com/reviews/1st
They also offer “Free Site Builder” that helps you build your web pages without difficulty if you are not skilled in using any website creating program. (WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get) You can use this service optionally.
******IMPORTANT********
* This service was awarded “The Best Web Host OF The Year”.
* If you sign up for this service you will have $75 credits to advertise your website with the google & yahoo search engines for free!
* You Can Register A Free Domain or Use Your Existing Domains. They Support All Domain Names.

Try this : just click & type can build the whole website easily
All files can managed with admin system without learning complex FTP/webeditor softwares
building a real website with .com or your domain name
is like having a physical store
3 steps you need to complete
1. find a physical store (find a server/virtual host)
you may rent or do it by yourself or but it
Rent-means you need “virtual host” (search engine can help you)
Do it by yourself – find a computer & set it as a server
2. put your commodities in your physical store (uploading your contents to server)
Web contents are placed to the server(photos or texts)
any function you need can install in this stage
3. name your physical store (domain name setting like http://www.tsmmc.com)
let visitors can link to your website by setting DNS server
you may set such server by yourself
try outsourcing of it – you will save a lot of time

Well, you have to pay for more than a domain to have a truly official website. You have to pay for hosting, which keeps all of your files on the internet. I recommend GoDaddy.com for your domain, but I’m not too sure what to use for hosting. You can use BlueVoda, a simple website building program that does everything you basically want it to, but you have to pay for the company’s “Vodahost” to keep the website on the internet. There are other online websites like FreeWebs, Weebly that can give you a very simple website for free, having a few downsides. For more website builders, just google website builders.
Good luck on your website.
