I’ve tried Geocities.

It doesn’t have to be GREAT but my site looks ghetto & I need someone to basically build my template & then I can control content

I am going to design a business website that target entire world specially USA. I do not know what color people like most?
Please tell me some good business websites that has good color theme?

I want to design some boxers for my boyfriend, nothing too special I just want to put some text on the band along the top. I don’t know of anywhere that can do this, can anyone make any useful suggestions? Thanks!

nvu.com is a good one for start but remember most of those website software who provide templates are already being used by others & uploaded to the internet ,what that mean ?
its mean you will be risking the duplicate of your site & being penalty by search engine so your website will get lost among others ,
the best way is to get a new templates that not many are having it, such as those template who sell for a limited number of people only & give you a a total control to change it like PLR templates
and make sure those Templates are css not tables cause search engine will not crawl your site if your page are made of tables not css
the best way tog et those templates is buying a new release one , i found Joel Comm templates is the newest one available It will be remove on 7th may 2008 so I left the link for your references
also Joel Comm will give you a free video tutorial for any one don’t have a website & want to build a website from css template

And How much time & cost would it take to learn those softwares? Can I learn it myself?
Would Photoshop & Flash be enough for designing graphics for a website? Or should I learn other softwares too?

I plan to start doing web design business soon . My experience in this field is beginner to intermediate at the most. I was wondering how I can get customers? I plan to use craiglist to advertise myself soon. If anyone knows a better way to advertise myself please tell me. Since my skills are at the lower end, I will charge less compared to those more skilled counterparts. Of course no server side programmings involved. I also plan to charge my clients by custom template designs & pages. However, I have looked to other people’s questions on this topic, & many have answered saying that freelance web designers should be paid by hours. I don’t know how thats possible considering I’m doing this business over the internet. If anyone can answer this, please enlighten me. Also, Is paypal a fine way to get paid? I don’t want customers to reverse payment or whatsoever after receivng their website. How do you prevent this problem? Any links on how to start this busines would be appreciated.

I want to start a website similar to ratemyprofessor.com that generates revenue through advertising. However, I am a college student with no experience in web design. I don’t want the site to be second rate at all, which means I won’t be designing it. Which direction should I go in to produce a quality website on a low budget?

I’ve started it up officially in January after I had my first child. I am currently doing Public Relations for the church & designing on the side. It is hard because I am trying to juggle so many things at once & I want to go back to school for web design/photo.Any tips for helping to make this a smoother process?

If you are new to it, start the right way:
NO FRONT END EDITOR… just Notepad. Stay away from coffeecup, dreamweaver & all others.
You write your code in notepad, you FTP it to your site & check the result. If it is pure HTML, you can open your file with IE (from your drive) & see the result.
A good way is to check the source of some websites: this will guide you to what is necessary to make a site.
Need help with coding? go to www.w3schools.com: you will find HTML, XHTML, PhP, mySQL & all you need to know.
Once you master HTML, add a bit of javascripts (Google for scripts: there are masses out there & for free).
Later, get more proficient with PhP & mySQL.
But, in ALL cases, do NOT use editors: they make crap & unmaintainable code…
