Web Design Beginner

Im not actually going to make one but where would you start with such a huge project?

I need the html code or program to put on my website like craigs list or myspace. i really need help i know html but i cant find the cod or a program to help me.

I would like to start a dating web site. I have the whole marketing plan down, the clientele started, etc., but really need the best idea on how to go about building a dating web site that offers individual profiles, questions, chats, mail, etc. Any ideas of a good place to go to start (I have minimal web site design experience).

I am interested in web design. I want to try an educate myself as much as I can. I am familiar with Dreamworks, Fireworks, & somewhat with Flash (flash yes, actionscript no.) I understand that there is a plethora of programs/scripts that I need to learn. I am ok with that. My question is this; what do I need to learn first? What should I spend the most time on? CSS,JavaScript, AJAX, SQL, Visual Basic, C#, (If I use Dreamweaver, how much HTML should I know?) etc. If I was to start designing tomorrow, what would I need to know most. I understand your first response will be ALL of it. But help me out. Is there something I could get by with learning as I go along, or learning later? I know this question is VERY elementary, I just want to make sure I don’t spend a month on something I would rarely use. Thank you so much for your help & understanding.

I am a small business owner in the Indianapolis area & I am looking for a local web designer to help me design my website. I am not sure what I should be looking for in a web design company or what prices they charge. How can I find current prices for web design in Indianapolis? Can anyone recommend someone?

Pretty self-explanatory really but just wondering why website designers need to design some initial ideas before starting the making of a website. I will need more than one reason please & no links !

I am a Oracle beginner(no knowledge)
I am quite good with windows
Very Little or no knowledge with linux
Very Fast Learner ( due to EXcessive free time, & Very Fast internet connection with determination )
An undergraduate(1 more year) student studying Information Technology in university
Am grounded with other disciplines like programming, networking, troubleshooting, maintenance, web design, installations etc.
So i wanna begin with oracle but im left with a choice….what operating system( WINDOWS vs LINUX ) is preferred to learn…please i need informative answers with reasons & specifications.:D:D:D…thanks!!

right i think ive found the perfect host but i just need a little help….what exactly do i need so that people can watch the videos without the site going down ever few minutes……… a site such as animegiant.com was what i had in mind so what specifications would i need to ensure that i can create an anime website similar to animegiant.com?

Jody’s Production Department is composed of 14 members, including: 4 writers: 2 editors, 4 multimedia designers, 2 technology designers, 2 project managers. Each time a project scope (a document containing project requirements) is handed over to her department, Jody tasks two writers, one editor, two multimedia designers, one technology designer, & one project manager to each project. Jody has made several key observations lately. Last Monday, as she was walking past the Production Department, Jody noticed that several of her staff, specifically the writers & multimedia designers, were surfing the web. She passed by four different times that day, & each time she noticed employees were still web surfing. A project, due Wednesday, was already far behind schedule, & the client was becoming impatient. Jody thought she structured her command group to be as efficient as possible, but apparently, that’s not the case. She had established the following roles & responsibilities among group members for any given project: Two writers prepare the script & storyboard for a module. One editor reviews & approves script & storyboard. Two multimedia designers & one technology designer work together to turn the script & storyboard into a final interactive & dynamic online module. Throughout the process, the project manager tracks the progress of each stage of the project, yet is not responsible for setting deadlines–the writers & designers do that. Jody thought having the team set the deadlines would be good practice for them. Jody knows it’s a bit unconventional to assign two writers & two multimedia designers to each project, but she figured it would help them get the job done faster. Apparently, she was wrong. In fact, it’s come to light in weekly department meetings that team members have seemed confused about where their co-writers or co-developers are at with important project milestones. What problems are evident in Jody’s situation? What are the possible causes for the late deadlines & poor performance?

I was wondering if there was any one out there that new how to create a website. I want it to look professional. The theme is soccer. Let me know if you have any experience in that field.

I am designing a website for my college portfolio & I am looking for some ideas for designs that I can create / modify. I am fresh out of ideas, apart from one that looks something like a fashion models portfolio.
My portfolio will be on the internet, & I would like something quite catchy. It has to be similar to my personal style, & I don’t mind using my photo if it fits, but I would prefer not to. I don’t want to use any pre-made templates, otherwise it’s not my work.
My style is a mix between rock, punk, r’n'b & pop. Kind of an urban “skater boy”, if you like. I would put screen shots of some of the things I have done to illustrate my work (so spaces for these would be really good), & possible put live examples of some of the work, server space permitting.
If you can give me some basic ideas to go off, it would be pretty good. Whether or not you want it, you will be credited with the idea, because it is still your idea, not mine.

Husband wishes to experiment with different flowers (from seed.) I say great – what about a plan? Focal point? Other features? We’re stuck! I need pix & great ideas -pronto!!!
if this helps; Sidng is white, colonial style 2 story, some red brick front & chimney. This is mature landscaping area. Area underneath square bay window is bare although a little ground conver is beginning to take. Red metal roof above window. We’ve tried rhododendrons, roses & hydrangeas. All failed. So what to do? What courses do I need to take to become a Web Designer for High School & University ?

Webdesign can be a lot of fun to learn, however it’s very time consuming. Different professionals go different directions… Linux based & Windows Based.
Linux is more of CGI, Python, Perl
Windows is more ASP, ASP.NET, .NET (which is how I design all my websites.. if it’s good enough for companies like Jaguar, it’s good enough for me)
There is also software.
You can learn stuff like FrontPage, Coolpage, LiquidFX, & you can be ridiculed by professionals.
Or you can use the industry standard which is Dreamweaver. It’s the best, hand’s down. Anyone whose been in the business on a professional level will tell you to go with Dreamweaver.
You need to know basic photo editing.
Fireworks, Photoshop, JASC & Corel, all provide great photoediting software. JASC for it’s money ($99) will work just fine for basic web editing.
So, from my standpoint if you know the following setup, people will be crawling to you…

What steps do I need to take if I want to start my own website in the form of an online magazine?

I’m not going to explain the idea, but for it to take off, I absolutely NEED the creation of a website. For me, the site would seem to be a little complex, but I know nothing of this nature & how easy or hard it may be to create. Who could I contact to help me with this?

we are looking into creating a website. & we are looking to hire a web designer to create it. how can we assure that the website belongs to us & not to the web developer? can we register into our name?

I’m currently majoring in nursing, & realized that I hate it. I really enjoy making websites & I would like to major in that instead. I’ve been looking at what employers want from a web designer & it’s usually a Bachelors in Computer Science. But I don’t understand how it all works… Do I get a BS in comp. sci & specialize in Web Design? I just want to know what kind of education I need or what I should be looking for in a school if I want to go into the workforce as a web designer/ developer… Thanks
