Web Design Beginner

I’ve tried Geocities.

Im not actually going to make one but where would you start with such a huge project?

Not put together parts of a different skateboard I mean a website where i can upload my own design etc. with easy tools.

I am looking for a website that I can record thoughts about my pregnancy, monitor weight gain, record baby names, etc. I would just go buy a book but I was looking for a free way out. Any suggestions will help. Thanks!!

nvu.com is a good one for start but remember most of those website software who provide templates are already being used by others & uploaded to the internet ,what that mean ?
its mean you will be risking the duplicate of your site & being penalty by search engine so your website will get lost among others ,
the best way is to get a new templates that not many are having it, such as those template who sell for a limited number of people only & give you a a total control to change it like PLR templates
and make sure those Templates are css not tables cause search engine will not crawl your site if your page are made of tables not css
the best way tog et those templates is buying a new release one , i found Joel Comm templates is the newest one available It will be remove on 7th may 2008 so I left the link for your references
also Joel Comm will give you a free video tutorial for any one don’t have a website & want to build a website from css template

Like preferred most intuitive software & any other tools.

I read some answers of other people but they were only lame ones like : You can only chat with everybody at the same time, or something really unlike Facebook or Myspace… Please help!

I need something where I can customize & add new items to sell each & every day. Is there something good that I can find online that can make this happen?

And How much time & cost would it take to learn those softwares? Can I learn it myself?
Would Photoshop & Flash be enough for designing graphics for a website? Or should I learn other softwares too?

I just recently had a great idea for a website. I already looked up the domain & it’s not taken. I know you have to pay for your domain. I’m looking for a professional way that’s secure that won’t get hacked. Does anyone know any good professionals that build & set up websites for you? Or is there a certain procedure or steps I need to take?

Okay so I just starting looking & I am completely lost. I’m two & a half years out of high school & finally realized I do need to go to school. But I’m not sure what the heck I’m supposed to do. There are dozens of things that interest me so I’ve narrowed it down to four to begin with I suppose. I like to write but know I could use some english courses & know enough to know I should have a back up since most writers don’t make that much. So my second is web design, I’ve always wanted to learn how to create & run a website. Third & Fourth are Photography & Art. I want to learn to draw & paint. So which college or what site can I search to find a college that teaches all four of these.

Yes. I’m the dummy. There is so much information out here, it’s hard to figure out the best thing. I have no programming experience, & a small amount of web design experience mainly using Dreamweaver. I’d like to start an online community, with moderators, passwords, users, etc. I’d like a private forum for just the moderators. I’d like people to be able to search the forums, & NOT have avatars, but be able to use emoticons. I would like automatic passwords emailed if someone looses them, & control of design & setup. I’d like a small area for advertising on the side if necessary. I’d like user guidelines to be automatic when someone signs up & have them be able to have instant access when they verify their email address.
I’ve read about a lot of different software, & have NO idea where to begin. I need something EASY for me to set up & manage, but still be able to have a lot of the above features & maybe more if necessary. I’d like to have an online chat area where we can have meetings nightly if we’d like to. I’d like to have a blog area too for just the administrator or moderators.
There are a lot of hosting services with Free forum setup, but I have no idea how easy any of this is. I would obviously need support in the beginning
Also, is there a way to get the whole site semi complete & test it without making it live?
I’d like suggestions from anyone on the above & what their opinions are on the easiest & best software for all this for a newbie.
