Web Design Beginner

Hi 20, & i have an upcomingclothing line , & i would like to start my website. im very familiar with web design because i took that class in high school so i know exactly what im doing. but i need a little help. i would like my website to consult of alot of flash also. i.e drop down menus, when the mouse rollover something, things pop out. & as soon as you log into the website you would click an enter button. this is just the little stuff. do anyone know the best web design software that fits my needs?

To create a website for a small business

I want to design a website, a fairly basic one–no credit card processing, storefront, shopping basket or any of that stuff. My hosting company has a number of templates, but they’re all so gaudy & structured. So is the only alternative to design it yourself? I find Dreamweaver to be overwhelming. Is Frontpage easier to use? Are there other alternatives?

I have a few domain names, & I’m planning to create websites for them. Although I know Html, I just don’t have the time to create my own website from scratch. I don’t really have time for Dreamweaver or FrontPage either. Since I am not planning to use multimedia, is there a hosting company that provides decent website templates that look reasonably professional & can be modified, & also can be set up to accept payments such as PayPal or credit cards.

I need a business website created for a low monthly cost so does anyone have any ideas to which sites are good to use & the ones that are not b/c i do not want to waste my money or time on bad websites.

i have no experience, i know nothing about any of the terms such as HTML etc… I have dreamweaver ( entire CS4) & i want to design my own web pages. I need to learn how to design a web-site. I am planning to start this as a hobby & if all goes well, maybe even start a side job as a web-designer. What type of program should I learn? Is Microsoft FrontPage still good to use or is it no longer up-to-speed with other leading web-designing programs.
What other types of programs are out there that will help me with website design. Do you think Macromedia is a good choice? I know it’s a bit steep in price but I figure if I am to invest the time to learn the ‘difficult’ program, time is money, why be shy on one & not the other.
What about Adobe? Do they have a web-designing software?
Please share your thoughts. I really need the help.

There is no quick/easy way to become a web designer. Well wait I take that back, anyone with notepad(or any version of frontpage or dreamweaver) can become a web designer.
Becoming a GOOD web designer is neither quick nor easy.
First learn the basics of HTML, do a search on google, or talk to teachers/professors at your school/college that teach website development classes.
Know your programs, be it frontpage or dreamweaver(there’s others too but I can’t recall the names). If you’re going to do websites in flash, then you need to know flash inside & out.
Long story short, if you’re thinking of getting rich quick by becoming a web designer, beware they are a dime a dozen. If you’re creative & dedicated enough you might just become a good one. Talk to your advisors & see if there are classes that would help you out, I know most high schools offer them, & almost all colleges have some form of IT major that has a web design class.
Do some research, HTML, PHP, ASP, that should be enough to get you started. There’s plenty of tutorials out there on the net if you take the time to read.

I have an idea for a website. I pretty much know what I want & how I want it organized, but I’m a little intimidated by the idea of trying to create a website with no knowledge of the process. I learn very easily, any reccommendations, are there any hosts that walk you through the creation of your website or rather has software that does? Is this something that a person of above average intelligence, in possession of a basic understanding of computers, but with no experience can learn as they go, through trial & error, or do I really need to take a class? Is there a book that I can learn from, I prefer to learn from books anyway? Thanks for your help!
