How Should I Prepare To Get Into Pixar?
I’m 14 & I know it’s a bit early to worry about this, but I’m just curious. I love to draw & I want to become a character designer or story board artist (?). I’m wondering if I need to take any computer classes, even though I don’t plan on working with computers. I’m a freshman, so, so far I’ve only taken:
Drawing & Painting Beginner
Web Development 1
I wanna take all three D&P courses (intermediate + advanced), Computer Art & Graphic Design. Idk what else to take. I would take Fashion/Interior Design, but I don’t see how that would benefit me.
New Cod4 Ps3 Clan?
Looking for members for a newly developed clan for Call of Duty 4 for PS3. My only requirement is that you have a headset & are willing to work as a unit.
Looking particularly for web designers & someone who can create a logo, but also needing ground floor members.
This is a VERY new clan so any new members have a chance of becoming co-leaders in the clan.
Please register at http://liberationarmy.spruz.com/default.… & let me know if you are interested.
Good Jobs In The U.s. Air Force?
I’d rather not see any combat, so a technical job would be good for me. I have an Associate of Arts in Graphic Design & would like to take a job within the Air Force that can compliment that degree? I went on the web site but didn’t really find anything pertaining to that field. Does anyone know of a job that would be good for someone who wishes to become a Graphic Designer when they get out?
P.S. I want to get a general idea of things before I talk to a recruiter.
Should I Do This Website Idea?
Im 13. Over the summer, I want to start an online business. My ultimate goal is to make six or more figures a year (become financially independent). I know it sounds crazy since im only thirteen, but it is my goal. I have some ideas such as a website where users can submit original songs, & other users can listen, rate, comment, share & chat. It will make money from selling ad space. I like this idea, but i have another idea that could be more profitable even though it has much more competition.
The idea is a website where users can store their digital photos. I still have to do some more research on this idea though. Users would either buy a free use (2gb worth of storage), a $4.98 monthly fee with a lot more gb of storage, or a yearly fee for $51.99 with a lot more storage than that. I would either hire a web design firm to create the site, or have my cousin, who is a web designer, create the site. I would have the site use a lot of security. some other features i could add to give me competitive advantage could be printing, editing, sharing, & other services all based around the digital photo storage service. Even though there are some huge competitors in this niche, I would start small, build a loyal customer base, & grow while making nice profits.
Do you think this is a good idea? Do you think it could eventually make me six or more figures a year? Should i do this idea?
Thanks.
Does This Happen On Projects ? Why Would Collins Project Have Been Exempt ?
<<Contractor or Scapegoat? Keys to Successful Contracting
By Georgina Laidlaw
February 17th 2005
Reader Rating: 9.2
It seemed like a great opportunity at the time. A business acquaintance contacted you with the offer of some contract work. It sounded perfect: you'd get to work on the project you'd always dreamed of without taking on any of the client management hassles that freelancers usually face. You'd deal only with the project manager, do great work, get paid, & it would all be sweet.
But now you're working round-the-clock to get the work to the client on time, despite the fact that the job bears barely any resemblance to the project you initially discussed. The scope keeps creeping, the bug alerts are coming in thick & fast, you're three months past the original deadline, the clients are getting antsy even though they're yet to provide you with various pieces of required information … & when (if!) you ever get finished, you're only going to be paid what you originally estimated before work commenced (and things got out of hand).
If you've ever contracted for someone else, you know how hard it can be to keep a grip on the project. When you find your own freelance clients, though you must endure the client management burden, you also enjoy the benefits of controlling the relationship. But often, when freelancers contract for someone else, it becomes difficult to maintain that level of control. They find themselves in the position of "resource", rather than "respected professional", & things spiral out of control from there.
At the same time, in the unpredictable world of Web design or development, things can — & do — go wrong. And all too often, the sub-par project manager points the finger at his or her contracted staff, crying "the contractor did it!" Too frequently, contractor equals scapegoat.
The good news is: it doesn't have to be this hard! Independent designers & developers can protect themselves from the perils of contracting … once they understand why these problems arise, & grasp the tactics required to combat them.
This article aims to explain some of the common pitfalls & identify the tactics you can take to protect yourself the next time you find yourself in the questionable position of "project resource".
First, we'll look at the kinds of situations in which the trusting contractor can unwittingly set themselves up to be exploited. We'll then talk solutions, showing exactly how each tactic can help you answer tough questions from your project manager or clients themselves.
The Problem
Often, contractors feel like they have little or no control over a project — as we discussed above, they feel as if they're "just a resource". This feeling can increase in a number of circumstances — circumstances that contractors should work to avoid! Let's take a look at them now.
Inaccurate or Nonexistent Specifications or Briefings
Often, the client & project manager want to start work as soon as possible. So you have a meeting, scope out the project in a very rough sense, & then someone asks you how long it will be before you can "get something to us".
In other cases, the project manager will go away, write up a spec — a spec that may or may not be as specific as you would ideally like — & have it signed off by the client before you've even had a chance to ask questions. Or perhaps you just dislike the scoping process, and, itching to get started, begin before the project has been specified in detail.
Obviously, this is a recipe for disaster. Projects need clear scoping and, though it might seem dull now, nailing down the finer details of exactly how the product inventory administration system/Latest News Calendar functionality/search facility is required to work will pay off — big — when the going gets tough.
Scope Creep
This problem is so common that it barely needs discussion, yet its prevalence in the Web industry indicates that many people — from those in big organizations right down to independent freelancers — still struggle with scope creep.
Naturally, a clear, formally agreed-upon project spec goes a very long way to solving this problem, but keeping the client on a tight reign throughout the development process is also critical. Problems can arise, though, when you're "only the contractor" & don't have ready access to — or sway over — the client.
Lack of Agreement on Deadlines or Unreasonable Deadlines
The client said "I want a May launch", the project manager relayed this to you, & you said, "no problem." Now you're wondering what on earth you were thinking!
Perhaps scope creep has added months to the delivery timeframe. Perhaps you were researching the development as you went and, in the absence of a clear development plan, you now find yourself scratching through thousands of lines of sketchy code that was really only ever intended to be used for the project prototype but now com

Kevyn Aucoin was a wonderful makeup artist who saw natural beauty in many & helped accentuate their features.
He was born on February 14, 1962 in Shreveport, Louisiana at a Catholic Charities Home for un-wed mothers.
His mother, Nelda Mae Sweat, was a scared pregnant sixteen-year-old with strict Baptist parents. His father, a handsome football player named Jerry Burch, didnt believe that the baby was his.
He was only a month old when he was adopted by an Aucoins family name. Kevyn grew up in a small town, Lafayette, with three other adopted brothers & sisters. At the age of eleven, he began making up his little sister Carla into a disco diva. While Carla was his source of inspiration, Barbara Streisand was his subject for painting & sketching.
Kevyn realized he was gay at an early age. It was hard fitting in a small town like Lafayette. Kevyn instantly became a target for his classmates. He was tormented physically & verbally.
At the age of 16, he moved out with his friend Glenn. Since neither of them had a job, they relied on their parents for food & other necessities.
One night Kevyn & his friend Glenn met a drag queen. Kevyn became mesmerized by the power of makeup he had seen on this drag queen. Soon enough, Kevyn started inviting more drag queens over to his apartment to do their makeup. That September, Kevyn had to start junior high again. As soon as he began, the physical & verbal tormenting started again.
Kevyn received death threats at school & he was beaten with rocks. One time two teenagers even tried to run him over with a truck. Finally, he dropped out of high school at the age 15. After he dropped out from high school he thought he would definitely fit in beauty school. 1978-1981. Kevyn asked his father for $900 to cover the tuition but Kevyn soon discovered that it turned out to be a waste of time & money because he knew way more than the teachers when it came down to makeup & hair both combined. Soon, he found a job behind a cosmetics counter at a local department store.
Following Kevyn’s break up with his boyfriend Glenn, he moved to New York where he found work doing make-up for a porn magazine called Cheezy.
Within a year, Kevyn was hired to work with Meg Tilly on a Vogue shoot. It was a milestone for Kevyn because he started working with models such as Cindy Crawford, Kate Moss, & celebrities including Tina Turner & Cher. Over the next couple of years, Kevyn did make-up for 18 covers of Vogue & 7 for Cosmopolitan.
During the 1990s, Kevyn refused to promote products for Vincent Longo & Laura Mercier because he was only going to receive 5% of the profits. Instead, Kevyn launched a new line of beauty products, the Kevyn Aucoin collection, which he was going to launch on his own web site–keyvnaucoin.com.
Kevyn’s make-up style truly defined the nineties. He brought out the beauty with classic touches. Kevyn had a unique vision that was completely transformational. He could completely “erase” someone’s features, & create a new face. He could glam up anyone, turn men into women, bring back faces from the past, & add shadow, texture, & features that were non-existent.
Kevyn’s advertising work for Ultima was the result of “Naked”, a line he helped to design & he also had been hired to revamp for Shiseido.
1994. Kevyn wrote three books: The Art of Make-up, Making Faces, & Face Forward.
1995-1998. In 1995 the Council of Fashion Designers gave him the only award that they had ever given a make-up artist.
In 1997, Making faces made it to number 1 on the New York Times best-seller-list.
In 2001, he played himself in the film The Intern, he also played the part of a make-up artist in the film The Zoolander, (2001). Later on in 2001, he played himself in two episodes of the t.v. show The Sex & the City.
October 2001, just a month before launching his own cosmetics line, Kevyn was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He died May 2002 due to kidney & liver failure
Choosing A Career..?
I am at a conflict at the moment I been out of high school 2 years working & I am finally deciding to get to a school the problem is I got no idea what I want to do. I have since 15 worked on computers repairing them, photoshop work, 3d art, some programming, web design & some slight 2d art & as you can see I like to dabble in things but I get bored real fast & this is my problem.
Even with my computer interest I am not sure thats what I want I use to want to be a game artist & designer but sometimes I wonder if thats really for me.
As for all things I have done photo editing in like photoshop is my best talent but I don’t enjoy it to much just once in a great while. I am thinking of becoming a artist but at the moment I suck at drawing but & I am not sure I would ever be good at it since I have creativity problems.
Any suggestions on how to maybe evaluate myself. I have tried thinking to myself what I really want but I keep getting different ideas what I actually want.
Which Business Idea Should I Go For?
Over the summer, I would like to start an online business. My goal is to eventually make six or more figures a year. I am limited on cash for the start-up however. I have two ideas that I think have a lot of potential. Which idea should I choose?
1. A website where users can submit original songs (with copyright info for protection) & other users can listen, rate, comment, share, & chat with users. Users could also create a main page where they could post info, & find new band members with the band member finder. I would have contests throughout the site for users to enter. I would make money from selling ad space. Joining the site would be free, but if the site becomes big enough, i would add a pro membership where you get extra features. I think this idea is great since there is not much competition other than www.purevolume.com, & it would be a great way for bands, artists, & musicians to promote themselves & get feedback. Who knows, maybe a record label executive might wander around the site & find some hot new act. They could be the next big thing. The only problem with this site is that it would cost me 40-50 thousand to create using a web design firm. I just dont have that kind of money to spend right now. How should I go about creating the site? I have no coding knowledge. Should I hire a coder/designer/developer from elance or something like that? What would that cost? Would it be effective. Should I create the site with dreamweaver or drupal or wordpress?
2. My second idea is a website where users can list, sell, buy, auction, & trade websites. Sign up would be free & a user could list the website with info, & place a snapshot of the site. They would choose to either auction, sell, or trade the site. Once they sell the site, I would take a small 4% fee from the final sale. I would also sell ad space on the site. This site might be easier to build than the music site. However, i got quoted 30-40k to build the site from a web design firm. Again, should I hire someone from elance or something?
Which idea do you think is most profitable? Which idea should I do? How should I go about building the website?
PS. To earn extra money, I am signing up as a dealer for Kaeser & Blair, which sells promotional products to companies (pens, golf tees, merchandise with company logos on them). As a dealer, I sell to my clients, & make 25-50% profit on all sales. Kaeser & Blair takes care of manufactureing & shipping.

How Can I Prove To Some One That They Are Not Right ?
I was talking to some one about dogs this morning, & these new designer “breeds”.
She said that labradoodles became a new registered breed in the kennel club. I explained to her that they are not, & to prove it i went on the crufts web site & searched the mutt.
She told me that after a dog gets to a certain population it becomes a new breed.
I then said “no, Labradoodles & other mutts do not have a breed Standard, so there for will never be a breed, never do they have a organization were they have set a breed Standard because they are only bred for cuteness, & mostly are bred from labrador & poodle, not labradoodle to labradoodle.
She still stuck to her words, & i know it sounds silly but it really agitated me. How can i prove my point, have i not explained it well enough ?

Best Company To Host A Website?
I have recently become addicted to adobe dreamweaver (I know true designers scorn this, but hey, why not take the help). I was wondering what were the best places to host my site. I was looking at hostm.com but Ive never heard of them so I’m approaching with caution.
While I’m asking, does anyone know of any good web design message boards where basic questions such as this have most likely been answered? Thanks a bunch,

It sounds very interesting to me & hopefully you guys can give me some sort of information on it. Also, please tell me what kind of degree I need to become a Data Technologist.
here is the the info:
Data technologists
In 2012, radio frequency ID chips, video cameras, computers & sensors will generate more information than people will be able to comprehend. Data technologists build structures, real & virtual, that turn the river of data into something meaningful & beautiful, said Eric Rodenbeck, founder & creative director at Stamen Design. The challenges: a fast-moving information landscape, experimental tools & a much-needed new vocabulary, he said. “Data visualization designer” just doesn’t roll off the tongue.
The excitement: Catch beauty as it flies past you.
Qualifications: Experience in virtual environments, imaging & visualization; technical skills; willingness to learn new tools; communication skills & imagination.
Salary: $90,000 to $102,000

Would You Dare Wear The Same Dress For More Than 100days?
Well, heres a good way to go about it…!
Wellington, Aug 23 (ANI): Fashion conscious women wouldn’t dare to wear the same dress for more than one occasion, but India-born Sheena Matheiken has been wearing the same black dress with different accessories for the more than 100 days, & setting a new trend.
A creative director at a web-design company in Midtown, Matheiken has been wearing the same dress with different accessories like think patterned tights, funky hats, glittering jewels & retro footwear for the past 110 days.
And she intends to wear it every day until May 1, 2010.
Sheena actually has seven identical dresses, one for each day of the week in 2009-10, created by her friend, a little-known New York designer named Eliza Starbuck. The dress is a button-up, cotton shift that can be worn front & back or as an open tunic over pants, tights or shorts.
With no experience in fashion, Matheiken came up with the idea as a way of raising money for not-for-profit organisation the Akanksha Foundation, which helps educate poor children in India by paying for the compulsory uniforms & other educational expenses that can prevent children from going to school.
Matheiken posts a picture every day of how she is wearing the “uniform” & within 100 days, she had raised about 10,000 dollars.”This is about making it fun & finding a way to blend style & sustainability. These two things don’t have to be mutually exclusive. It’s all about getting creative,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Matheiken as telling essentialStyle magazine.
“We have been inundated with emails from people who want to donate accessories from their closets & design custom pieces for the uniforms. It’s been incredible,” she added.”The hats & plumes, the dickys & drapes, the shoes & slips, the belts & brooches – much of what you will see are byproducts of my cyber-stalking on eBay & Etsy, backed by visits to the many local vintage boutiques, thrift stores & flea markets of New York,” she said on her website.
The exercise has become an international phenomenon & Matheiken & Starbuck are now planning to put the dress on the market to further their fund-raising efforts. (ANI)
Computer Jobs For Gaijins In Japan?
I know being an English Teacher is an easy way to get to Japan without having to be fluent in Japanese, but I decided not to become an English teacher but instead continue to pursuade my expertise with computers (mostly graphic & visual designing, game designer for a better term). I understand I have to know Japanese, which I’m halfway fluent through anyways. Pretty soon after I graduate from college, I’m going to appy for a working visa.
With this in mind, can someone give me a list of computer jobs (or just jobs PERIOD) for gaijins in Japan, or at offer some web sites that offer jobs for gaijin?
Wedding Dress And Hair Ideas For The Over 50 Bride?
So my mother is getting married, this will be here second marriage first one was to my father over 30 years ago. She will be getting married on Princess Cruise ship, the ceremony will be small but still a high end type wedding. What she is finding though is it extremely hard to find the right dress. She does not want to wear white, ideally she would like to wear the ice blue color that has become more popular. But the only designer we’ve been able to find that carries this color is Maggie Sottero. I’d love to see other dresses that are in this color as well, but not the crazy puffy princess type gowns. It needs to be something softer, but still floor length, train is not a big deal, they can always be altered. If anyone knows any web sites with either dresses actually being worn by women over 50, or any more of these ice blue colored wedding dresses that would be a huge help. Please don’t suggest bridesmaid style dresses though, her first wedding was not a dream wedding & she wants a real wedding dress this time. Also any hair & veil ideas would be great, her hair is just above the shoulders. Thanks for any & all help!
